Climate Change Costume Contest Challenge

Congratulations to the Contest Winners!

We chose two winners from the entries we received through the Facebook event. The treat category winner is Alyssa McElroy, who dressed up as beautiful mother nature. The trick category winner is Lucy Behrendt, who dressed up as Scariel.  The winner of each category, trick and treat, will receive $100.

We want to thank everyone for participating in the costume contest and for helping raise climate awareness with your tremendous creativity.

Mother Nature
The Treat Category winner, Alyssa McElroy, with her beautiful mother nature costume.
The Trick Category winner, Lucy Behrendt, with her creative Scariel costume.

Here is Lucy Behrendt’s testimonial:

“Thanks for the opportunity to see some Halloween costumes that were both funny and meaningful! There is a lot to be concerned about in the current political climate, but it’s all for naught if we don’t take care of our planet. Individual choices like recycling and corporate choices like eliminating plastic straws are all fine and good and do make a difference, but in reality, those in power will have to insist on policies which curb those who benefit from environmental exploitation if we want to save ourselves from a planetary crisis.”

fundraising updateWhat will the Earth be like on Halloween circa 2118? Whether you’re dressing up as one of climate changes tricks — like a refugee from a sub-merging city — or as a treat — like a wind turbine or citizen hero/heroine, ARKCCL’s goal is to encourage awareness, creativity, and fun. Our goal is also to raise $5000. If you can, please donate any amount. Donations will be doubled from a $5000 matching grant.
