“Come Cool-Off” Delivers Snow Cones and LiHEAP Application Help
On a sweaty July 16th evening two dozen folks living on Fort Smith’s north side turned out for “Come Cool Off”, a summer energy efficiency/energy assistance event hosted by the Arkansas Climate League’s Resource Center.
“We wanted to make sure that families know about the time-sensitive opportunity to apply for summer Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program funds. It’s hot out and energy bills are going to be higher, so it’s important that folks have access to a little extra help. – Jan Schaper, AR Climate League Administrator
Families also received energy efficient light bulbs, gourmet snow cones from local Snow Cone Kreations, and an update on the solar system at the Elizabeth McGill Center Drop In Center (where the Climate League Resource Center is housed). Students were especially interested in hearing about Climate League Outreach Director Herbert McGill’s crash course in solar installation, which he attended last year at a Solar Under the Sun training in Fort Worth. He encouraged them to consider a career in clean energy – the energy of the future.
