On June 17 Climate League Outreach Director Herbert McGill welcomed The Montessori School of Fort Smith summer program kindergarten students to our raised bed outdoor classroom in the Antioch for Youth & Family Discovery Garden. The ten students dug potatoes and incorporated cherry tomatoes, radishes and peppers harvested from the raised beds along with cucumbers and other garden produce into their lunch.  For some students this was their first time trying snap peas and radishes.  Parents in attendance learned about plants they could incorporate into their own home gardens.  Our raised beds and our compost bins are becoming known in the community as great hands-on opportunities for kids. The Boys Club will be coming out in July.  Additional Montessori students will be joining in later this summer.
