Building More Than Beds

We’ve been busy constructing and facilitating the planting of raised beds at the Charolette Tidwell Community Garden on Fort Smith’s north side!  The materials were purchased with grant money awarded to us by Arkansas Interfaith Power and Light.

“This project will benefit community members of all ages, including elementary and high school students.  Students will construct some of the beds.  They’ll learn about sustainability and recreational gardening, growing fruits and vegetables.  Raised beds are good for extending the growing season and are more accessible for people with mobility issues.  Gardens are a great place for cooperation, relationship building . . . and building a better community.”  Climate League Outreach Director Herbert McGill
